What is NPOP Certification?
No — India's NPOP is not recognised by the USDA — the US–India recognition agreement ended in January 2021. Organic products for the US must be certified to the USDA National Organic Program by a USDA-accredited certifier and travel with an NOP Import Certificate (required for every organic shipment since 19 March 2024). India's NPOP standard is administered by APEDA under the Ministry of Commerce; the EU recognises it as equivalent for unprocessed plant products (currently until 31 December 2026, extension proposed). Radiance holds USDA NOP certification for US shipments.

NPOP certification is mandatory for all APEDA-registered organic exporters and is recognised in several markets, including the EU and UK for unprocessed plant products; other markets such as the USA require their own certification. The certification is issued by APEDA-accredited certification bodies (e.g., OneCert, Bureau Veritas, NCOF, SGS India) after third-party inspection and verification.

EU recognition is subject to periodic renewal (currently to 31 December 2026, extension proposed). Processed products need EU Organic certification, and organic shipments into the US need an NOP Import Certificate.
What NPOP Certification Means for Importers
When you import NPOP-certified organic products from India, here's what you get:
USDA NOP for the USA
NPOP is not recognised by the USDA. Radiance holds USDA NOP certification for US shipments, which travel with an NOP Import Certificate.
EU Organic and NPOP recognition
The EU recognises NPOP for unprocessed plant products; Radiance also holds EU Organic certification. Processed products need EU Organic certification.
Organic Transaction Certificate per Shipment
Each shipment includes an Organic Transaction Certificate (OTC) issued by the NPOP certification body, certifying that the specific lot was produced under NPOP organic standards.
NABL-accredited Lab Testing Included
All NPOP-certified shipments include COA from NABL-accredited testing labs (pesticide residues, heavy metals, microbes, aflatoxin) with results provided pre-shipment.
APEDA Verifiable Certificate Number
NPOP certificates carry unique certificate numbers issued by APEDA-accredited bodies. You can verify authenticity by contacting the certification body or checking APEDA registry.
3rd-Party APEDA-Accredited Inspection
All NPOP-certified organic farms and processors undergo annual inspection by independent APEDA-accredited certification bodies — not self-certified.

Phytosanitary Certificate
APEDA issued. Required for all agricultural product exports to USA and EU.
APEDA Certificate of Origin
Form A or EUR.1 for customs clearance. Confirms Indian origin for tariff preferences.
Commercial Invoice
EU/US compliance format. Includes HS code, organic notation, quantity, FOB/CIF value.
Current NPOP Certificate Copy
Copy of our valid NPOP certificate with certification body name, certificate number, scope.
