CFIA and Safe Food for Canadians Requirements
Coffee imports into Canada fall under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR). As importer you hold the SFC licence and maintain a Preventive Control Plan; we supply the supplier-side records that sit behind it — process controls, traceability one-up/one-back, and lot-wise analysis — so your CFIA file is complete before the container lands.
Canada requires consumer packaging to carry both official languages. For private-label and retail-pack programmes we produce bilingual English/French artwork to your specification, including the bilingual nutrition facts table and net quantity declaration.
Each lot ships with a NABL-accredited Certificate of Analysis covering moisture (max 12%), screen size distribution, defect count per ICO standards, ochratoxin A and pesticide residues, plus Certificate of Origin and phytosanitary certificate. Organic lots carry an Organic Transaction Certificate recognised under the Canada Organic Regime equivalence arrangement.

Canada Logistics, Ports and Order Sizes
We load at Mundra, JNPT and Chennai and ship CIF to Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax. Transit is typically 26–32 days, with weekly sailings on the major carriers.
Green coffee moves by full container — 1 × 20' FCL is approximately 18–19 MT in 60 kg jute bags, with GrainPro liners available as a moisture barrier. Instant coffee and private-label programmes start at 500 kg, packed in vacuum-sealed 25 kg cartons or 1 MT flexi-bags. We do not quote LCL.
Why Canadian Roasters Import Direct from India
Canada grows no coffee, so every bean is imported — and the specialty scene in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver has grown fast enough that roasters increasingly want origin relationships rather than broker allocations. Indian Arabica Plantation AA and AAA from Chikmagalur suits single-origin and filter programmes; washed Robusta Parchment gives espresso blends crema without harshness.
Buying direct from the estate removes the trading-house margin and, more usefully, lets you lock the same lots year on year. We reserve tonnage against annual contracts and courier pre-shipment samples for cupping approval before the container is booked.
Vancouver serves western Canada and Montreal the east, with Halifax available for Atlantic buyers. Green coffee enters Canada duty-free under the MFN tariff, so landed cost is essentially FOB plus freight and insurance.
